RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery),
In some cases, a DJ stent is placed before the surgery for kidney stone removal — this is called Pre-DJ Stenting.
Why is Pre-DJ Stenting done?
✅ To gently stretch and prepare the ureter for easy scope entry
✅ To reduce the risk of injury and complications during RIRS
✅ To improve success rates for complete stone clearance
How long before surgery?
⏳ Usually 1–2 weeks prior, depending on the case and the surgeon’s plan.
